Martin House Brewing Sour Fest Recap

Well, the 2nd Annual Martin House Brewing Sour Fest has come and gone with a bang as hundreds of people from all over gathered and lined up to enter in to try some new, intriguing sour brews by the brewers at Martin House. Providing a line up of about 18 new sours to taste and cherish with a Willy Wonka styled theme for the event and  a few sours named for that very purpose in mind including Blue and Red Snozberry and Boysenberry. And, of course, for those that didn’t tend to lean towards the sour end of the spectrum, then they still offered the classic brews like Friday IPA, Bockslider, Gateway Blonde and the rest of the gang.

This year’s event was packed out to the max with a line well on down the road to just get in followed by long waits up to 30 minutes at some post to just get 8 oz of beer! Blue Snozberry ran out within 30 minutes of the event starting to help clarify just how wild and packed the event started out, and it finished the same way. But besides some of the craziness that went on, all in all the event was a blast!

I really enjoyed several of their sours I tried including their Boysenberry Sour and Queen of the Mist-Mango. They had a few food trucks parked out front with some delicious food which My wife and I went with some small sliders that were flipping fantastic to say the least. Live music echoed in the background with much of an old school sound to it that helped keep the mood mellow throughout the facility.

When the event comes around next year you can be rest assured that I will return and be more prepared (a canopy a must!) and ready to venture off into Willy Wonka’s sour world of fun. Thanks for the great event Martin House Brewing and I look forward to next year! Cheers everyone and God bless!

A Little Sunshine And A Pilsner: Eagle Mountain Pilsner Review

A little sunshine and warm weather sets the perfect scene for a crisp pilsner. Today’s choice is brewed up at Martin House Brewing Company and is a light golden beauty called Eagle Mountain Pilsner. This brew emits aromas of citrus hops, lemon peel and sweet honey with a pale malt overtake lingering in the background. Delicious flavors of lemon grass and a strong citrus bite with hints of honey sweetness and a nice crisp, hop bittersweet finish. Great local beer that is fit for the beautiful weather at hand. Grab a pack and sip your way into heaven. Cheers!
